LE MEW
Le Mew is Cuban-born, Bronx-raised, and rhythm obsessed.
A former drummer and lifelong dancer, she hears music through the body first. Her sound is shaped by the Latin and African rhythms that have surrounded and inspired her from the beginning—percussion, bass, repetition, tension, release, and that moment when a groove takes over and thinking stops.
A former drummer, Le Mew approaches DJing with a percussionist’s instinct—drawn to polyrhythms, syncopation, deep basslines, and grooves that build from the body outward. Her musical identity is rooted in the Afro-Cuban rhythms she grew up around, the sounds of New York City, and the African rhythmic lineage that runs through so much of the music she loves.
Her sets are global, restless, and hard to pin down. They move freely across borders: deep and soulful house, Latin and Afro-inflected grooves, classic New York house, unexpected global sounds, and tracks that resist easy categorization. Rather than staying within a single genre, Le Mew looks for the rhythmic thread connecting music from different places and eras.
The result is a sound that feels distinctly global but deeply personal
For Le Mew, it all comes back to the same thing, the rhythm and the dance floor.
